COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of April 29, 2022

Key Points

  • After several weeks of relative calm, Week 16 saw an increase in viral circulation. All virological indicators were on the rise. This increase may be partly linked to the Easter weekend festivities, but also to the easing of public health measures on April 9, which led to a decline in the adherence to preventive measures.

  • The 45–64 age group recorded the highest incidence rate.

  • For the first time since the peak in incidence observed in mid-March 2022, the R0 value also increased; it stood at 1.04 [0.99–1.09] (not significantly higher than 1) over the 7-day rolling period from April 17 to 23, 2022.

  • In hospitals, a slight increase in new hospital admissions was observed.
