COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of August 11, 2022.
Key Points
In S31, the improvement in the COVID-19 epidemiological situation continued in Martinique. Although a slight increase in the positivity rate was observed (+1.8 percentage points), incidence and testing rates continued to decline, by 26% and 37%, respectively.
The 30–39 and 40–49 age groups recorded the highest incidence rates. The 7-day rolling effective R (from July 31 to August 6) was 0.73 – 95% CI [0.69–0.78], significantly below 1 and still indicating a slowdown in SARS-CoV-2 transmission over this 7-day rolling period.
In week 31, the L452R mutation (C1 screening result), which is present in several Omicron sublineages (BA.4, BA.5, BA.2.11), was detected in 97% of samples versus 95% in week 29 (data currently being consolidated).
The situation in hospitals remained favorable despite an increase in the number of emergency room visits, though based on low case numbers. The number of new hospital admissions across all departments and the number of new deaths were relatively stable in Week 31.
