COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of February 17, 2022

In Martinique, the COVID-19 outbreak continued its slow decline across the territory, but hospital pressure persisted during week 2022-06. All virological indicators were declining for the first time since the peak of the fifth wave. Against a backdrop of steadily decreasing
testing rates, the incidence rate was falling, as was the positivity rate. The effective reproduction number (R_e), calculated from data reported in SI-DEP for samples collected between February 6 and 12, 2022, was 0.82 [0.81–0.84], significantly below 1, indicating a decline in the epidemic. At the hospital level, the number of emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19 was decreasing, except in pediatric emergency departments, where an increase in visits was observed.
