COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of February 25, 2022
Key Points
In Martinique, the epidemic situation continued to improve across the territory despite ongoing strain on hospitals during week 2022-07. SARS-CoV-2 circulation remained active and at a high level despite the decline in all virological indicators.
Against a backdrop of steadily decreasing testing rates, the incidence rate and positivity rate continued to decline. The 15–44 age group recorded the highest incidence. The effective reproduction number (Rt), calculated from data reported in SI-DEP for samples collected between February 13 and 19, 2022, was 0.70 [0.68–0.72], significantly below 1, indicating a decline in the epidemic over this seven-day rolling period. At the hospital level, COVID-19 activity in adult emergency departments was stable, and the number of new hospitalizations across all departments, including critical care, was decreasing.
