COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of January 21, 2022

Key Points

In Martinique, the COVID-19 epidemic continued to spread during week 2022-02. The positivity rate remained relatively stable, but the incidence rate continued to rise, with testing rates also increasing. The 0–14 and
15–45 age groups were particularly affected. The effective reproduction number (R_e), calculated from data reported
in SI-DEP for samples collected between January 9 and 15, 2022, was 1.53 [1.51–1.56], significantly higher than 1. However, SARS-CoV-2 transmission during this period slowed compared to the previous seven days.

The hospital remained under extreme strain. The number of new admissions across all departments was stable but remained at
a high level; the number of emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19 and deaths was increasing in Week 02.
