COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of June 16, 2022
Key Points
COVID-19
SARS-CoV-2 transmission remained active in week 23.
As activity resumed following the long Pentecost weekend, incidence and testing rates were on the rise, up 9% and 6% respectively, while the positivity rate remained stable.
The 30–39 age group recorded the highest incidence rate. The 7-day rolling effective R (June 5–11) was decreasing. Nevertheless, it remains significantly above 1 (1.12 – 95% CI [1.10–1.15]).
The proportion of the L452R variant continued to increase in Week 23. It was detected in 74% of screened samples in Week 23, compared to 62% in Week 22.
At the hospital level, a decrease in adult emergency department visits was recorded in Week 23. However, the number of new patients admitted to the ICU as well as the number of deaths were on the rise.
These factors contributed to the decision to reactivate the White Plan at the CHUM on Friday, June 10, 2022.
