COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of May 5, 2022

Key Points

In Martinique, following the slight increase in virological indicators observed in Week 16, mainly linked to the Easter holiday festivities, viral circulation remained active. However, the epidemiological situation was relatively stable in Week 17.

Both the incidence rate and the positivity rate remained stable despite a slight decrease in testing rates. The age group with the highest incidence rate was 15–44 years. The effective reproduction number (R_e) was consistent with active viral circulation in the region; it was 1.05 [1.00–1.09] (significantly greater than 1) over the 7-day rolling period from April 24 to 30, 2022.

All hospital indicators pointed to a stable epidemiological situation. For the second time since Week 15, no new admissions to critical care were recorded in Week 17.
