Dengue Surveillance in the Caribbean. Update as of February 17, 2022.

Key Points

Dengue surveillance indicators in both urban areas and hospitals are at low levels in the French West Indies (Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy). According to the PSAGE, Martinique and Guadeloupe are currently in the inter-epidemic phase with sporadic transmission of the dengue virus. A few suspected and/or confirmed cases of dengue are being reported, depending on the territory. To prevent the emergence of dengue outbreaks, preventive measures should be taken (destruction of larval breeding sites, personal protection with repellents, use of mosquito nets and electric fly swatters) and suspected cases of dengue should be reported to the authorities and vector control services.
