Dengue Surveillance in Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands. Update as of April 3, 2020.

Epidemiological Situation

Guadeloupe: ongoing outbreak. The predominant circulating serotype is serotype 2.

Saint Martin: ongoing outbreak. The predominant circulating serotype is serotype 1.

Saint Barthélemy: isolated cases or outbreaks. The predominant circulating serotype is serotype 2.

In these three territories, a decrease in dengue surveillance indicators has been observed. This trend should be interpreted with caution given the ongoing COVID-19 alert. Indeed, the implementation of lockdown measures across the country since mid-March (week 2020-12) has resulted in a decrease in consultations for suspected dengue fever at private medical practices and hospitals, as well as in the number of samples collected by laboratories (both private and hospital-based) over the past two weeks.
