Dengue Surveillance in Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands. Update as of January 14, 2021
Key points
Guadeloupe
Surveillance indicators in urban areas and hospitals have been declining for the past four weeks but remain above the epidemic threshold. This trend needs to be confirmed in the coming weeks, given the holiday season and the closure of medical offices. The outbreak continues across the archipelago. The predominant circulating serotype remains DENV-2, with DENV-1 and DENV-3 also circulating.
Saint Martin
About 40 clinically suggestive cases of dengue seen in medical consultations at the start of the year confirm that the epidemic is continuing. The DENV-1 serotype is predominant.
Saint Barthélemy
Surveillance indicators continue to decline. The number of clinical cases has been around ten per week for the past two weeks (2020-53 and 2021-01). This trend needs to be confirmed in the coming weeks, given the holiday season and the closure of medical offices. The DENV-1 serotype is the predominant one circulating.
