Dengue Surveillance in Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands. Update as of October 1, 2020.

Epidemiological Situation

  • Guadeloupe: The dengue epidemic continues to spread, with the number of outpatient visits reported each week exceeding that of the previous week. The number of emergency room visits for suspected dengue, recorded last week (2020-39), is the highest since the start of the outbreak (mid-October). Unfortunately, there has now been one death directly linked to dengue. Serotype 2 remains the predominant circulating serotype.

  • Saint Martin: The epidemic continues, with a stable number of clinical cases reported each week since mid-July. The predominant circulating serotype is serotype 1.

  • Saint Barthélemy: The current outbreak continues to spread. The number of dengue cases seen in general practitioners’ offices has exceeded 1,000 since the start of the outbreak (mid-April). Serotype 2 remains the predominant circulating serotype.
