Dengue Surveillance in Martinique. Update as of May 21, 2020.

Epidemiological Situation

All epidemiological surveillance indicators have confirmed for several weeks a trend toward increased dengue virus circulation in Martinique.
In particular, during week 2020-20, the weekly number of clinically suspected dengue cases reached its highest level since the virus re-emerged in 2019, and the weekly number of laboratory-confirmed cases exceeded 100 during week 2020-18. Furthermore, the spatial distribution of biologically confirmed cases shows an expansion of viral circulation across a larger portion of the territory, with nearly 3 out of 4 municipalities reporting dengue cases.

The Technical Committee for Dengue Monitoring was consulted to assess the dengue situation in light of the PSAGE phases. Its members propose moving to Phase 4, Level 1 of the PSAGE dengue protocol, “confirmed epidemic.”
