Dengue Surveillance in Martinique. Update as of November 14, 2019.

Epidemiological Situation

The circulation of the dengue virus is increasing and spreading to new municipalities.
However, the dengue outbreaks identified and known to date are limited to two municipalities. This analysis is based on the following factors:

  • The continued increase in the number of biologically confirmed cases;

  • Seasonal thresholds have been exceeded for the first time since July 2019, with an estimated weekly number of dengue cases in week 2019-45 accounting for more than half of the estimated number of cases over the past 4 weeks (2019-42 to 2019-45);

  • Two ongoing outbreaks in the municipalities of Le Vauclin and Sainte-Luce;

It is therefore important to remain vigilant given the current trend of rising epidemiological surveillance indicators for dengue.
