Dengue Surveillance in Martinique. Update as of September 18, 2020.

Epidemiological Situation

The dengue epidemic continues and is spreading in Martinique. Trends in epidemiological surveillance indicators are consistent and show that viral circulation on the island remains very active. Aside from the 2010 dengue epidemic, which recorded 4,000 clinically suggestive cases at its peak, the 2019–2020 epidemic is the most active in the past 15 years. This September, with its alternating periods of intense heat and rain, it is therefore important to remain vigilant in the face of widespread viral transmission across the entire territory. Furthermore, current weather conditions are conducive to the development of larval breeding sites near homes. Martinique remains in Phase 4, Level 1 of the PSAGE dengue alert system: confirmed epidemic.
