Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

Dengue activity is currently relatively high in the department of French Guiana. The Kourou area (detailed situation on page 3) and the municipality of Saint-Georges, which are particularly affected by this situation, are currently facing an epidemic. On the western coast, outbreaks are still being identified in the municipalities of Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni and Mana. However, the indicators remain below the expected maximum values. The same applies to the island of Cayenne, where outbreaks have been identified in the municipalities of Cayenne, Matoury, and Rémire-Montjoly. Although monitoring of indicators has not revealed any major changes in this area, an upward trend appears to be gradually emerging, particularly in the municipality of Rémire-Montjoly. The epidemiological situation regarding dengue, except in the Kourou sector, remains at Phase 2 of the Psage: "Epidemic Outbreaks." Two serotypes are currently co-circulating in French Guiana (DENV-2 and DENV-4), with DENV-2 being overwhelmingly predominant.
