Summary

Following a sharp increase between weeks 29 and 30, SARS-CoV-2 virological surveillance indicators rose again in week 31 (July 27–August 2, 2020) in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region: 687 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed by RT-PCR, compared to 580 in week 30. The incidence rate, defined as the number of positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, rose from 7.2 in week 30 to 8.55 in week 31. The positivity rate remained stable at 1.3% compared to the previous week.
The highest incidence rates are observed in Ain, Loire, Rhône, and especially Haute-Savoie.
The latter department, with a weekly incidence rate of 26.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, is in a state of “moderate vulnerability.”
The weekly number of new cluster reports continues to rise: 11 new clusters were reported in week 31, compared to 9 in week 30. Twenty SARS-CoV-2 infection clusters are currently being monitored, six of which are considered under control. The other COVID-19 monitoring indicators show no significant trend in week 31 compared to the previous week.
