COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes as of July 2, 2020

Summary

In Week 26 (June 22–28, 2020), the main epidemiological indicators for COVID-19 remained stable compared to the previous week, including the proportion of positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests, SOS Médecins consultations, and reports from social and medical-social facilities.

During Week 26, the number of suspected COVID-19 cases in emergency departments increased slightly, but without a rise in hospitalizations. These trends will be monitored throughout July, and epidemiological surveillance continues

The number of SARS-CoV-2 infection clusters currently under investigation is not decreasing, underscoring the importance of limiting large gatherings and adhering to preventive measures, particularly upon returning from abroad. Summer should not make us forget the importance of these universal measures, particularly the wearing of masks in enclosed spaces where the public is present. The contact tracing system, which includes the important role of primary care physicians, continues; any suspected case of SARS-CoV-2 infection must be able to receive a virological test and measures to reduce the risk of transmission.
