Health Monitoring in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region. Update as of August 11, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • In Week 31, the decline in SARS-CoV-2 circulation continued in the region, with a 37% decrease in the incidence rate and a 2.3-point drop in the positivity rate. This decline was observed in all departments and across all age groups.

  • Hospital indicators are declining, notably with a 31% decrease in new hospitalizations and a 39% decrease in new admissions to intensive care. The number of currently hospitalized patients remains at a relatively high level.

Monkeypox

  • As of August 9 at 12:00 p.m., 192 confirmed cases of monkeypox have been reported

Surveillance of Arboviruses: Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika

Since the start of enhanced surveillance and through August 9, 2022, the following have been reported:

  • 10 confirmed cases of dengue imported from Cuba, Côte d’Ivoire, Réunion, Cameroon, and the Congo.

  • 1 case of chikungunya imported from Brazil.

Extreme heat, heat wave:

  • Between July 31, 2022, and August 5, 2022, amid a heat wave, Météo-France placed up to 10 departments in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region under an orange alert (Ain, Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, Haute-Loire, Loire, Puy-de-Dôme, Rhône, Savoie, and Haute-Savoie, representing 93.8% of the region’s resident population) and two departments under a yellow alert (Allier and Cantal, representing 6.2% of the region’s resident population). The orange alert was lifted on August 6, 2022, at 6:00 a.m. for the last two departments in the region affected (Ardèche and Drôme). This is the third heat wave of the season.

  • As of 4:00 p.m. on August 10, five departments in the region were under a yellow alert (Ardèche, Cantal, Drôme, Isère, and Rhône); no orange alerts were in effect at this time.
