Influenza Surveillance in the Auvergne Region – Status as of February 12, 2014: 3rd epidemic week (activity on the rise)

  • Increase in the weekly number of outpatient visits for flu-like symptoms

  • Incidence of influenza-like illnesses seen in general practice consultations estimated at 451 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, representing more than 6,000 consultations in the region

  • Hospital activity remains stable

  • 16 severe cases of influenza reported since the start of surveillance (165 nationwide)

  • Virological data from Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital: increase over the past 3 weeks in the number of isolated influenza viruses (all type A)
