Situation in Rhône-Alpes

  • Acute Diarrhea / Gastroenteritis: The Sentinelles network reports high activity in medical consultations for acute diarrhea for weeks 51 and 52 (December 17–30), with 193 and 252 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively. The SOS Médecins associations remain highly mobilized.

  • Flu-like syndromes: After activity was considered moderate in week 51 with 189 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, it increased significantly in week 52 with 307 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The flu has taken hold, with both A and B viruses circulating. We have already recorded 8 severe cases of the flu.

  • Bronchiolitis: Emergency room visits for bronchiolitis remained very high in weeks 51 and 52 (December 17–30).

  • Carbon monoxide poisoning: The number of carbon monoxide poisonings remains high in the Rhône-Alpes region.

  • Acute Respiratory Infections in Senior Care Facilities: Since week 51 (December 17–23, 2012), eight clusters of acute respiratory infections in senior care facilities—including one in a post-acute care and rehabilitation facility—have been reported to the Regional Health Agency (ARS). For four of these, the etiology has been identified (influenza A in 3 cases, including 1 H3N2 and 1 RSV).
