The 2017 National Prevalence Survey (ENP) aims to measure and describe the national and regional prevalence of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial treatments in healthcare facilities. The survey is conducted on a representative sample of French healthcare facilities: a random survey stratified by region and facility category. Between May 15 and June 30, 2017, 403 healthcare facilities participated, involving 80,898 patients. This report presents summaries of the 2017 ENP results at the regional level in order, on the one hand, to compare the results of each region with those at the national level and, on the other hand, to compare the results obtained in each facility with those at the corresponding regional level. Regional variations in the prevalence of infected or treated patients, while they may be explained by differences in patient or facility characteristics, must be identified and taken into account in the context of regional implementation of the actions now promoted by the national missions for the prevention and surveillance of healthcare-associated infections and antibiotic resistance.
