Key Points

Chikungunya, dengue, and Zika

  • From May 1 to November 30, 2023, 49 imported cases of arboviral diseases transmitted by Aedes albopictus (vs. 8 in 2022) were biologically confirmed in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. These included 47 cases of dengue (representing 2% of dengue reports in mainland France) and 2 cases of chikungunya. There were no cases of Zika virus infection. No indigenous vector-borne transmission was identified in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

High temperatures, heat waves

  • Indicators of heat-related illnesses are at low levels.

COVID-19

  • The number of emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19 has been rising since late April (74 visits in May compared to 19 in April). All age groups are affected, although people aged 65 and older are the most represented. The proportion of COVID-19 cases among total emergency room visits remains low.

  • The number of consultations for suspected COVID-19 is also rising: 70 cases in May compared to 15 in April. The share of COVID-19 cases in the total number of SOS Médecins cases has increased slightly (1.5% vs. 1.3% in Week 1).
