Key Points

COVID-19

  • Slight increase in the incidence rate (IR) and testing rate (TR), stabilization of the positivity rate (PR). The regional (gross) IR rose from 159 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 33 to 177 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 34. IRs are rising or stable in all four departments. Decrease in general care hospitalizations, emergency room visits, and calls to SOS Médecins. Stabilization of critical care hospitalizations. Estimated vaccination coverage by place of residence stands at 83.1% for one dose and 82.3% for a full course.

Extreme heat, heat wave

  • Brittany has remained on a green heat wave alert since August 14. There has been a decrease in healthcare utilization for heat-related conditions this week, with activity within seasonal norms outside of periods of extreme heat.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Low activity. Increase in SOS Médecins indicators, particularly among children under 5. However, there has been a decrease in the number of emergency room visits compared to the previous week, across all age groups and among children under 5, in hospital emergency rooms.

Monkeypox

  • As of August 29, 2022, 33 confirmed cases had been reported in the Brittany region.
