Health Monitoring in Brittany. Update as of September 8, 2021.

Key Points

COVID-19

Decrease in the incidence rate (IR) calculated based on PCR and antigen tests. The IR dropped from 122 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 34 to 89 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 35. IRs are decreasing across all departments in the region: -30 points in Côtes d’Armor, -47 points in Finistère, -23 points in Ille-et-Vilaine, and -34 points in Morbihan.

Particular attention should be paid to the Côtes d’Armor and Ille-et-Vilaine, where case rates remain the highest despite an improvement in indicators, specifically in the communities of municipalities of Pontivy, Lannion, and the northeast of Rennes. Also of concern is the school environment in connection with the start of the school year: the positivity rate has remained high since mid-July among the 0-15 age group. Vaccination coverage stands at 80.1% for a single dose and 74.4% for a full course.

Heat-related health issues

Finistère and Morbihan were placed under a yellow heat wave alert by Météo-France from July 19 to 22, 2021. Outside of this period, Brittany remained under a green heat wave alert. Activity was low, close to previous years’ levels, excluding periods of extreme heat.
