Key Points

Oscour® Network Emergency Department Visit Indicators:

  • Among adults (18 years or older), the monthly number of emergency department visits for mental health issues in April and May 2022 increased compared to 2021 and 2018–2020, but the share of monthly activity was lower than in previous years. The monthly number of visits since the start of the year is generally higher than in 2021, but stable compared to the average for 2018–2020.

  • For children (under 18), the monthly number of emergency department visits for mental health issues in April and May 2022 increased compared to 2021 and 2018–2020. The monthly share of activity was lower than in 2021 but higher than the 2018–2020 average. The monthly number of visits since the beginning of the year is higher than in 2021 and than the average for the years 2018 to 2020.

  • Among those aged 11 and older, the monthly number of emergency room visits for suicidal acts and suicidal ideation in April and May 2022 increased compared to 2021 and the average number of visits from 2018 to 2020.

  • Other mental health monitoring indicators from the Oscour® and SOS Médecins networks show no significant changes.
