Key Points

Oscour® Network Emergency Department Visit Indicators:

  • Among adults (18 years or older), the monthly number of emergency department visits for mental health issues in January and February 2022 was similar to that of 2021 and 2018–2020, but the share of monthly activity was lower than in previous years. The monthly number of visits was generally lower in 2021 compared to the average for 2018–2020, with a lower monthly activity share.

  • For children (under 18), the monthly number of emergency department visits for mental health issues and the share of activity in January and February 2022 were generally lower compared to 2021 and higher compared to 2018–2020. The monthly number of visits was generally higher in 2021 compared to the average for the years 2018 to 2020, with a higher monthly activity rate as well.

  • Among those aged 11 and older, the monthly number of emergency room visits for suicidal acts or suicidal ideation in January and February 2022 was generally higher compared to the average number of visits from 2018 to 2020.

  • Other mental health monitoring indicators from the Oscour® and SOS Médecins networks show no significant changes.
