Data on emergency room visits from the Oscour® network
The average number of visits for mental health issues among children in 2021 was higher than in the previous three years (+50%), primarily among children aged 0–10 (respectively: +36%, +67%, and +88% compared to 2020, 2019, and 2018).
Across all age groups, the average number of visits for suicidal acts was higher than in the previous three years (respectively: +10%, +6%, and +26% compared to 2020, 2019, and 2018).
Medical procedure data from SOS Médecins
Increase in procedures for anxiety in 2021 compared to the previous three years (respectively, +15%, +37%, and +39% compared to 2020, 2019, and 2018).
Analysis of the last two months (October–November)
The monthly number of visits for mental health issues in children in October–November 2021 was higher than in the previous two months (+20% compared to August–September 2021).
The monthly number of visits for suicidal acts across all age groups in October–November 2021 was higher than in the previous two months (+17% compared to August–September 2021).
Decrease in the monthly number of cases involving anxiety (-48%) and depressive states (-54%) in October–November 2021 compared to August–September 2021 (to be interpreted with caution due to low sample sizes).
An increase in the current life satisfaction score in Wave 30 (November 30 to December 7) compared to the previous wave (October 28 to November 5).
