Public Health Surveillance in the Lorraine Region. Epidemiological Update as of April 5, 2012.

Key Points

  • Nationwide, influenza activity has been declining for the past 5 weeks. This trend has been evident in Lorraine for the past 2 weeks, based on data from emergency departments and the SOS Médecins Meurthe-et-Moselle association.

  • The virus circulating this season is predominantly type A(H3N2), but it is antigenically different from the vaccine strain.

  • Following a decrease in bronchiolitis activity, it appears to be stabilizing at a lower level.

  • Gastroenteritis activity continues in the Lorraine region. Over the past few weeks, activity at emergency departments appears to have been more significantly impacted by this condition than that reported by the SOS Médecins association in Meurthe-et-Moselle.
