The French departments in the Americas (Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana) are, along with Île-de-France, the regions most affected by HIV infection. The survey on "Knowledge, Attitudes, Beliefs, and Behaviors Regarding HIV/AIDS and Other Sexual Risks in the Antilles and French Guiana" provides an overview of the situation in 2011. Nearly 5,000 people agreed to participate in this study, which helps us understand how residents of the French West Indies and French Guiana have adapted to the risk of HIV/AIDS over the past twenty years. The results presented here contribute to the evaluation of public policies implemented in these departments and facilitate discussion of the current challenges posed by the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the French West Indies and French Guiana. Furthermore, by collecting detailed data for the first time on other sexual risks, such as unintended pregnancies or sexual violence, the survey also confirms the value of integrating HIV/AIDS into a comprehensive approach to sexual health.
