COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for French Guiana as of April 7, 2022
Key Points
In Week 13, trends in epidemiological indicators related to COVID-19 indicate a stabilization in viral circulation compared to Week 12: the incidence rate decreased by 1.4%, to 140 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and the positivity rate decreased by 0.6 percentage points. The testing rate is also stable. The effective R is 1.14 and is significant.
Regarding hospital activity, the number of emergency room visits is down slightly, but this indicator is not fully consolidated (data missing for the CHC); the number of new hospitalizations across all departments is declining, and no new admissions to intensive care have been recorded since Week 12.
No deaths have been reported for four consecutive weeks.
Vaccination coverage has increased slightly compared to the previous week: among those aged 12 and older, it stands at 40.3% for a full course and 18.6% for a full course with a booster dose.
