COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for French Guiana, August 4, 2022

COVID-19

  • In week 30 (July 25–31), virological indicators were declining, resulting in an incidence rate of 190 cases per 100,000 population (-41%). This decline is observed across all sectors of the region.

  • Monitoring of screening data in week 30 shows a stabilization of variants carrying a mutation at position L452 (C1), which account for 89% of screened samples. Sequencing data indicate that the majority of these are BA.5 sublineages of Omicron.

  • Hospital indicators are also improving. New admissions across all departments are declining. One ICU admission was reported in week 30, and two in-hospital deaths were recorded.
