COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for French Guiana as of March 10, 2022

Key Points

After passing the peak of the fifth wave in early January and seeing a sharp decline in indicators over seven consecutive weeks, we are now observing a stabilization of epidemiological indicators in week 9.

The number of new cases is stable in Week 9, and the 7-day moving-average incidence rate has risen slightly to 82 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which corresponds to the levels observed at the end of the fourth wave. Note that the incidence rate has been adjusted to account for public holidays (holy days). The effective R is 0.88, which is not significant.

Hospital care indicators (emergency room visits, inpatient admissions, and intensive care admissions) have been low and stable since Week 8. The weekly death toll remains low.

Vaccination coverage with at least one dose has not increased compared to the previous week.
