COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for French Guiana as of March 17, 2022

Key Points

Trends in epidemiological indicators related to COVID-19 show a slight increase in viral circulation in week 10: the incidence rate has risen slightly to 95 cases per 100,000 people, and the positivity rate has increased by 3.7 percentage points. The testing rate has dropped by 22%. The effective R is 1.35 and significant.

Hospital care indicators (emergency room visits, inpatient hospitalizations, and intensive care admissions) have been low and stable since Week 8, except for the number of new hospitalizations, which decreased in
Week 10. In Week 10, no deaths were reported.

Vaccination coverage has increased slightly compared to the previous week: among those aged 12 and older, it stands at 40.1% for a full course and 17.9% for a full course with a booster dose.
