COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for French Guiana as of March 24, 2022

Trends in epidemiological indicators related to COVID-19 show a slight increase in viral circulation compared to Week 10: the incidence rate has risen slightly to 106 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and the positivity rate has increased by 2.3 percentage points. The testing rate has declined for the second consecutive week, falling by 16% in Week 11. The effective R is 1.08 and is not significant. Regarding hospital activity, the number of emergency room visits has been stable since Week 8; the number of new hospitalizations across all departments rose slightly in Week 11 (this increase mainly concerns the CHK); and the number of new intensive care admissions remains stable at a low level. No deaths have been reported for the past two consecutive weeks. Vaccination coverage has increased slightly compared to the previous week: among those aged 12 and older, it stands at 40.1% for a full course and 18.1% for a full course with a booster dose.
