Epidemiological Situation of Influenza in French Guiana. Update as of December 23, 2016.
Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation
The number of visits for influenza-like illness rose again during the second and third weeks of December (S2016-49 and 50). The influenza epidemic is therefore continuing across the region, particularly in the three coastal sectors. Indeed, activity related to visits for influenza-like illness and bronchiolitis was low in the CDPSs. The impact of the epidemic on the hospital sector remains moderate overall. Additionally, a severe case linked to the Influenza A virus was recorded at the end of September. Finally, the Influenza A/H3N2 virus has been circulating predominantly since the start of the epidemic in both community practice and hospital settings (CHAR).
