Epidemiological Situation of Zika in French Guiana. Update as of September 15, 2017.

Analysis of the epidemiological situation

In French Guiana, over the past three months, the number of clinically suspected Zika cases has been low.

Furthermore, no cases of Zika were biologically confirmed in the territory during this period.

Finally, no outbreaks have been identified or have been active for several months.

Given the current risk period, biological confirmation should be requested for any case clinically suggestive of arbovirus infection.

The current epidemiological situation corresponds to Phase 1 of the Psage* “sporadic cases” across the entire territory. This was presented to the Expert Committee on April 7, 2017, which will propose moving to Level 1 of the Psage “sporadic cases” to the Management Committee.
