Key Points

Dengue

  • Over the past two weeks, the circulation of the virus has been on the rise in French Guiana, both in urban areas and in hospitals, particularly on the island of Cayenne and, to a lesser extent, in the savanna region.

  • In the emergency room, the number of visits has increased by 50%.

Malaria

  • In weeks 52 and 1, 30 cases of malaria were reported each week in French Guiana. Among them, 2 were P. falciparum cases, imported from the African continent. Of the 58 P. vivax cases, 6 were relapses.

  • In total, 342 cases of malaria were diagnosed in French Guiana in 2023, 67.5% of which occurred last November and December, compared to a total of 51 cases in 2022. The situation is being closely monitored.

Bronchiolitis

  • The epidemic continues, with a downward trend.

Influenza

  • Ongoing epidemic with moderate circulation.

COVID-19

  • Moderate circulation.

Diarrhea

  • Epidemiological indicators are decreasing in inland communities and moderate in coastal communities.
