Health Monitoring in French Guiana. Update as of March 21, 2024.
Key Points
Dengue
The downward trend in dengue virus circulation continues overall across the entire territory in S11, with a marked decline in indicators in most sectors, except for the Savanes sector, where circulation is slightly increasing.
The DENV-2 serotype was the most commonly identified in S11 (56% DENV-2 among serotyped samples and 44% DENV-3).
Following a sharp increase in dengue virus circulation in French Guiana during January, circulation stabilized at a very high level for four weeks.
A decline in indicators has been observed since early March: the number of clinically suggestive cases has decreased by 40% since the first week of March.

The number of malaria cases diagnosed in the healthcare system was moderate and stable over the past two weeks: in weeks 10 and 11, 21 cases of P. vivax, including 10 relapses, were recorded.
