Influenza Outbreak Situation in French Guiana. Update as of September 15, 2017.
Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation
Activity related to influenza-like illness remained low and stable throughout the country from late May to early September.
During this period, influenza B and A/H3N2 viruses, as well as RSV, were identified in samples analyzed by the National Reference Center for Influenza Viruses at the Pasteur Institute of French Guiana and by the virology laboratory at the CHAR.
Furthermore, only one severe case was admitted to the intensive care unit: this patient, under the age of 40 and infected with influenza B virus of the Yamagata lineage, died.
