Influenza Outbreak Update in French Guiana. As of December 16, 2019.

Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

During 2019, influenza activity was not sufficient to warrant declaring an epidemic period. However, influenza viruses were identified, and consultations for influenza-like illness were recorded in private practice, at primary care centers (CDPS), and in hospitals.
The period during which influenza activity was highest—though below the levels typically observed during an epidemic—spanned from February through the end of July.
During this same period, only three severe cases of influenza were admitted to the intensive care unit, one of whom died.
