COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Hauts-de-France Region as of November 25, 2022

Key Points

  • In urban areas, during week 46, consultations for acute respiratory infections (all causes combined) rose sharply for the second consecutive week (Sentinelles Network), and the number of people seeking care for suspected COVID-19 is also on the rise again (SOS Médecins).

  • In hospitals, the number of new emergency room visits and new admissions to general wards for suspected COVID-19 remains stable, while the number of admissions to intensive care units is rising again.

  • This fall, the COVID-19 booster vaccination campaign is being conducted alongside the seasonal flu campaign for at-risk individuals. Currently, only 33.4% of people aged 60–79 and 10.7% of those over 80 have up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination coverage, but less than 10% of those over 60 have received the booster vaccine tailored to the Omicron variants. These low vaccination coverage rates should encourage COVID-19 vaccination for these individuals and their close contacts, as well as the reinforcement of preventive measures.
