Health Monitoring in the Hauts-de-France Region. Update as of August 19, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • Continued decline in community circulation of SARS-CoV-2 associated with reduced testing

  • Indicators of viral circulation (incidence and positivity rates) remain high, which calls for vigilance given the upcoming start of the school and university year and the resumption of social and professional activities

  • Vaccination coverage among the most vulnerable (over 60 years old) eligible for a second booster is progressing too slowly

Extreme heat, heat wave

In week 32, a fourth heat wave affected mainland France. It began on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, and primarily affected the Atlantic coast;

In the Hauts-de-France region, this heatwave was less intense than in the rest of France, but maximum temperatures exceeded 30°C and minimum temperatures hovered around 18°C for four consecutive days, prompting Météo-France to issue a yellow alert, first for the Nord department on August 11, then for the region’s five departments over two days.
