Health Surveillance in Picardy. Epidemiological Update, July 18, 2013.
Asthma attacks: At the regional level, outpatient and inpatient monitoring indicators are declining this week.
Allergies: At the regional level, following the decline in recent weeks, allergies diagnosed in outpatient and inpatient settings are on the rise again this week. Weather conditions and the continued high levels of grass pollen will not be favorable for people with allergies.
Heat-related illnesses: At the regional level, outpatient and inpatient surveillance indicators are on the rise this week.
Acute gastroenteritis: Nationally, the incidence of acute gastroenteritis is below the epidemic threshold. Regionally, outpatient surveillance indicators have been declining almost steadily since the beginning of the year and are below the regional epidemic threshold (SOS Médecins data).
Heat Wave and Health Alert System (SACS): Indicators have remained generally stable since surveillance was stepped up. However, heatstroke diagnoses by SOS Médecins in the region have been on the rise over the past two weeks. Temperatures, meanwhile, are expected to rise slightly in the coming days. However, biometeorological indices remain below the thresholds; these conditions do not warrant the issuance of a health alert.
