Heat Wave and Health in Hauts-de-France. Bulletin of August 19, 2025.
Key Points
During the week of August 11–17, Météo France issued an orange heat wave alert for the departments of Nord, Aisne, and Oise, as well as a yellow alert for Pas-de-Calais and Somme, for three consecutive days.
A regional analysis of emergency care utilization indicates a moderate increase in the iCanicule composite health indicator (including hyperthermia, dehydration, and hyponatremia) during and around these three days of heatwave alerts.
This trend shows fluctuations slightly higher than expected, even given the current weather conditions, but remains below the levels observed during the previous heat wave in late June–early July.
