Key Points
Increase in emergency room visits for mental health issues among children (under 18) during the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, while the trend remained stable among adults aged 18 and older;
An increase in the number of emergency department visits for suicidal ideation among those aged 11 and older during the first quarter of 2023, with the volume of activity doubling compared to the 2019–2021 average for the same period, reflecting improved utilization for suicidal ideation following major awareness campaigns and initiatives encouraging people to seek help since 2021;
An increase in emergency department visits during the first quarter of 2023 compared to previous years for the same period for psychotic disorders and SOS Médecins interventions for anxiety across all age groups (number and share of activity);
An increase in the number of emergency department visits for mood disorders during the first quarter of 2023 compared to figures recorded in previous years during the same period, while the share of activity remained comparable to previous years.
