Monitoring Bronchiolitis

  • In mainland France, daily visits to emergency departments for bronchiolitis continue to rise.

  • In the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, the circulation of respiratory syncytial viruses is intensifying, with an increase in all indicators and the regional epidemic threshold exceeded for the second consecutive week. The bronchiolitis epidemic is in an upward phase in the region, with a peak expected to be reached by the end of the year.

  • In the Picardy region, the proportion of calls to SOS Médecins for bronchiolitis has generally been increasing since the start of the season but remains below the regional epidemic threshold.

Surveillance of influenza-like illnesses

  • In mainland France, a moderate increase is observed in all epidemiological and virological indicators.

  • In the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy regions, calls to SOS Médecins continue to rise and are expected to exceed the regional epidemic threshold during the second half of December.

Surveillance of severe influenza cases

  • In mainland France, 6 severe cases of influenza have been reported since the start of surveillance.

  • In Nord-Pas-de-Calais, the first severe case of influenza (type A virus) was reported this week.

  • In Picardy, no severe cases of influenza have been reported.

Surveillance of acute gastroenteritis

  • In mainland France, the incidence of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice remains below the epidemic threshold.

  • In the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy regions, calls to SOS Médecins have generally been on the rise since the start of the season but remain below regional epidemic thresholds.

Surveillance of carbon monoxide poisoning

  • In mainland France, the number of poisonings reported to the surveillance system remains below the levels reported during the same period in 2013.

  • In the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy regions, the number of reported CO poisonings remains stable and similar to what was observed during the previous season.
