Enhanced monitoring under the Heat Wave and Health Alert System (SACS)

• In mainland France, as of July 1, 47 departments are currently under an "orange alert" for heat waves, and Level 3 of the National Heat Wave Plan (PNC) has been activated in 46 departments. As of June 30, no health impacts had been observed based on data from emergency services, SOS Médecins, or mortality statistics (INSEE data).

• In the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy regions, the departments of Nord and Aisne have activated Level 3 “heatwave alert” of the PNC; the other three have been at Level 2 “heat warning” since Tuesday, June 30. A moderate and expected increase, given the high temperatures, in the use of SOS Médecins and emergency departments for heat-related conditions has been observed since the start of week 2015-27. However, this increase remains modest and currently has no impact on the overall activity of SOS Médecins and emergency departments.

Emergency room visits by people over 75

In the five departments of the subregion, emergency room visits by people aged 75 and older are stable and within the usual range.

Deaths among all age groups and those aged 75 and older

In the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy regions, deaths among all age groups and those aged 75 and older reported by computerized civil registries are generally stable and similar to the figures observed during the same period in the two previous years.
