Mortality Surveillance

In the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy regions, all-cause mortality observed in recent weeks decreased slightly in weeks 2015-08 and 2015-09.

Bronchiolitis surveillance

In the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy regions, as in mainland France, outpatient and hospital indicators have returned to low levels, marking the end of the winter epidemic.

Surveillance of influenza-like illness

The peak was reached in week 2015-06, and influenza activity is moderate in most regions of mainland France, including the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy regions. Although the number of emergency department visits and hospitalizations is decreasing for people of all ages, older adults still account for the majority of influenza-related hospitalizations.

Surveillance of severe influenza cases

In mainland France, 1,335 severe cases of influenza have been reported this season, including 73 in Nord-Pas-de-Calais and 21 in Picardy, and 163 have died (12 in Nord-Pas-de-Calais and 4 in Picardy). The majority of cases had risk factors for complicated influenza and were infected with an influenza A virus.

Surveillance of Acute Gastroenteritis

• In mainland France, the incidence of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice is below the epidemic threshold.

• In Nord-Pas-de-Calais, calls to SOS Médecins, although below the regional epidemic threshold, have been at a high level since early January, and emergency room visits for gastroenteritis remain stable.

• In Picardy, calls to SOS Médecins for gastroenteritis are in line with expectations, and visits to emergency departments remain at a low level.

Monitoring of carbon monoxide poisoning

• In mainland France, 875 cases involving 3,093 people have been reported since September 1, 2014.

• In the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, two cases were reported to the surveillance system this week.

• In the Picardy region, only one case has been reported to the surveillance system over the past two weeks.
