Public Health Surveillance in Nord-Pas-de-Calais. Epidemiological Update, March 19, 2013.

Key Points

Flu: In mainland France, flu activity continues to decline for the fourth week in a row following a 13-week epidemic. In the region, according to doctors in the unified network, the incidence of flu-like illnesses has also been declining over the past four weeks (157 cases per 105 residents this week, compared to 1,084 cases per 105 residents at the peak of the epidemic in week 2013-07); however, the epidemic threshold has been exceeded for the 14th consecutive week.

Acute Gastroenteritis: Nationally, the incidence of acute gastroenteritis has been below the epidemic threshold for over a month. In Nord-Pas-de-Calais, following the increase observed over the past two weeks, surveillance indicators from the SOS Médecins associations and hospital surveillance data are once again declining, falling back below the regional epidemic threshold.
