COVID-19 and Monkeypox: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of November 25, 2022

Key Points

COVID-19

In Week 46 in Île-de-France, virological and hospital indicators showed an increase.

  • The regional incidence rate was 180.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, a slight increase compared to Week 46 of 2022. The positivity rate (16.1%) and the testing rate followed the same trend.

  • The BA.5 sublineage of the Omicron variant accounted for nearly all sequencing results.

  • Visits to primary care for “suspected COVID-19” were slightly down, and visits to emergency departments were stable.

  • The number of new hospitalizations increased, while the number of new COVID-19-related critical care admissions decreased compared to S46. The number of in-hospital deaths increased slightly.

  • The total number of new COVID-19 cases reported by healthcare facilities was slightly down.

Given the continued circulation of SARS-CoV-2, vaccination (and booster shots) for all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with other preventive measures.

Monkeypox

  • From mid-May through November 22, 2022, 2,500 confirmed cases of monkeypox were recorded in Île-de-France (region of residence).
